If students cannot get on the internet with the MacBooks:
Go to the upper right where the airport signal is.
Go down to "Join Other Network"
Choose the lower left "Show Networks"
Click on "MOBILE-WIFI"
When the box asks for username and password
Then, open the browser. Usually they need to create a new tab and it will work.
Reset PRAM and NVRAM
Shut down your iMac
Locate thfollowing keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears and before the chime sound.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for three times.
Release the keys.
Mobile Devices
1) Which network should I use with ipads and other mobile devices?
Use the 'guest' network and login using login: "guest" and password: "guest". This information can be shared with students.
2) Which network should be used with laptops?
Use the 'MPSD-MOBILE-WIFI' network. To login in use: "mpsd\username" and your regular district password.
3) Turn off track pad
Right click on desktop and go to “personalize”
Then click on “Change mouse pointers” in the left hand of the screen.
Next click on the “Device settings” tab, and check the box that says “Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached”
Hit “Apply” at the bottom of the window
Now you will not have to worry about the touchpad mouse if you plug in a USB mouse.
4) Projector Cart Directions
Connecting the Projector
1) Plug in the cart to the wall
2) Plug in the black monitor cable from the wall to the computer.
3) Connect the blue Ethernet cord from the wall to the computer.
4) Attach the gold coaxial cable from the wall to the computer.
5) Connect the small audio plug to the lime green port ( on the lower right)
6) Turn on the computer
7) On the remote, push the orange power button in the upper left to turn on the projector
8) Wait about 30 seconds
9) Log in to the computer
Using the Projector
1) #1 on the remote turns the sound off and the screen go dark
2) #2 freezes the picture but audio continues 3)#3 allows for closed captioning – didn’t seem to work
Closed captioning can be turned on by clicking on the CC button on the screen.
4)#4 runs auto setup?
5) #5 on the remote changes the aspect ratio (wide screen, etc.)
6) #6 changes color scheme for type of background on which you are projecting

8) #8 Allows user to zoom in on a picture

Using the document camera
1) Have the document camera software installed on the computer.

2) Right and left arrows on the keyboard will change volume.
3) Up and down arrows on the keyboard will change channel.
4) To type in a specific channel, use the numbers on the keyboard. (You may have to hit the ‘num lock’ on the keypad.)

Watching a DVD
1) Place the DVD in the computer drive
2) On the task bar on the bottom of the computer screen click on the Windows Media Player. (This is a white triangle in an orange circle)
3) Highlight the item you want to view and click play.
4) Adjust volume as needed. (From the remote as well as the program itself)
Watching a VHS Tape
1) Plug in a VCR near the wall inputs.
2) Connect the VCR out cables to the yellow, red and black inputs on the wall box.
3) Choose the video button on the remote.

Accessing Documents
1) On your laptop or old desktop, save your documents to the U drive. Choose ‘Save As’ and instead of saving them to documents, choose your ‘U’ drive.
2) On the projection computer, click on the window icon in the lower left
3) Choose ‘computer’ from the list on the right
4) Choose your drive to access your documents
Setting Channels
1) Click on Win TV 7 icon on the desktop
2) Wait for program to open…be patient.
3) On the lower left, click on the settings button (if the buttons are not in the lower left, put the picture on full screen using the button in the upper right. The settings button will now be in the upper left.)
4) Click on Devices
5) Choose the option that includes ‘LiveTV’
6) Click ‘Tuner Setup’
7) Select all four options
8) Click ‘Next’
9) Choose channels up to 69
10) Enter zip code 54220
11) Click ‘Next’
12) Wait while computer scans channels
13) After completed, click next
14) Close / cancel
15) You should be able to scroll through channels
Setting up the TV remote
1) Take the remote and LED sensor from the WINTV-HVR box that is most likely on your cart
2) Plug the LED sensor into the computer in the lower left, 3 spaces under the TV Coaxial cable.
3) Stick the sensor part to the top of the computer, not to the cart
General notes
1) The TV channels seem to sometimes take a while to buffer. There doesn’t seem to be a reason or pattern. Just be patient. (Someone suggested having a Gandhi moment while you wait.)
2) If you get stuck or frustrated please contact someone for assistance.
3) When adjusting volumes, remember that you have the volume on the projector, the volume on the computer and possible the volume on the software you are running.
